Your skin is the body’s largest organ and acts as an amazing protective barrier over our lifetime, despite the wind, rain & sun damage we expose it to. Unfortunately, age takes it’s toll too.
Ageing Skin
Natural skin ageing, often associated with the appearance of lines & wrinkles may be affected & accelerated by a number of factors: genetics, diet, UV damage, smoking and alcohol to name a few.
The gradual loss of key structural components: like collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid is another symptom of ageing skin but one we hope to address.
Left unchecked diminishing collagen and elastin will lead to skin losing it’s supple smooth appearance with fine lines and wrinkles starting to appear, ultimately, the skin will become drier losing it’s elasticity and radiance.

Collagen is the bodies most abundant protein found in skin, muscle, joints, ligaments and connective tissue.
Collagen is responsible for the skin’s strength and resilience as well as it's smooth, plump appearance. Produced by special cells called fibroblasts, collagen production occurs throughout our lives. However, with age collagen levels start to decline - there is a drop in production and an increase in degradation. From the age of 25 collagen levels diminish at a rate of 1.5%, by the age of 45 up to 30% may be lost resulting in the weakening of the skin’s structural support, loss of volume and firmness.
Don't I just need type II Collagen?
Most companies would simply say yes & sell you a few type II tablets. However, there are 28 types of collagen that have been found present in the human body with some more prominent than others, listed below are those most applicable to our products & our customers:
- Type I– most widely occurring collagen found in skin, tendon, bone, cornea, lung, vasculature and is the component of scar tissue when a wound heals
- Type II- major component of cartilage
- Type III- Makes up elastic tissues such as embryonic skin, lungs, blood vessels
- Non fibrillar collagen type IV- also known as basement membrane collagen; is found at tissue boundaries.
- Type V- less abundant, found in bone & cornea
- Type VI- connective tissue
- Type XI- minor component in cartilage

Collagen is an extremely fibrous protein which is virtually indigestible, therefore enzymatic hydrolysis breaks the protein down enabling absorption via the small intestine, the resulting product is referred to as COLLAGEN HYDROLYSATE (purified polypeptides of differing chain lengths). All our collagen products provide a blend of collagen hydrolysate (specifically Peptiplus XB Aggl. From Germany) in accordance with European Patent # 0254289.
